We are very excited to welcome a new member of staff to the Rural Youth Europe team to join Spyros, Tomás and Dan! Anja Fortuna has been appointed as a new Project Manager. Anja requires little introduction to much of our network, but below you can find out a little more about her.
Who are you and where are you from?
There are many answers to this question. I am happy that throughout my life I had the opportunity to explore different aspects. But in general I could say I am Anja, rural person from Slovenia that thinks both locally as well as globally.
What is your background on rural matters?
I grew up in a rural area and a large part of my youth years were dedicated to the Slovenian Rural Youth Association where I worked on international affairs, education, youth work, youth policies and rural development. I have as well took part in many different activities of Rural Youth Europe in the last 10 years. In the roles of the president of the National Youth Council of Slovenia and the Vice-President of the European Youth Forum, I was working as an advocate for young rural people as well as rural areas in general.
What is your favourite RYEurope memory?
My favourite RYEurope memory cannot be chosen. There are many favourite memories. Variety of different activities, people and countries bring a nice bowl of memories that will never be forgotten. Though to choose one I would say it was hosting the Autumn Seminar in 2015 in Slovenia.
What is your new role at RYEurope?
My new role in RYEurope can be summarised with the words Project Manager. But it goes beyond that focusing on managing projects as well as working on governance, policy and advocacy. Bringing my experience from policy making and advocacy in the field of rural areas and young people in general, as well as managing projects in different fields.
What would you bring to an RYEurope International Buffet? 😋
I would bring Slovenian Potica. A walnut roll that is the best for cosy festive days with the loved ones.
You can welcome Anja to the team and get in touch with her on firstname.lastname@example.org!
