Our team is continuing to grow. We are delighted to welcome Katerina to the RYE secretariat team! Find out more about her in her own words:
Hello there! I am Katerina, I am 29 years old and originally from sunny Athens, Greece. Since 2023, I have embarked on a new adventure by moving to Brussels, a city that has become my home. Now, I am excited to join RYE’s team and contribute to its goals and mission!
Since 2015, I have been actively engaged in youth work, starting as a volunteer and later holding multiple paid positions at local, national, and international levels, mainly in project-related roles. My main interest is creating meaningful opportunities for young people to engage civically, building bridges between them and ensuring their voices are heard. Through project work, I have seen firsthand how empowered and impactful young people can become when given the opportunity to shine, which continues to be my motivation.
What is your role in Rural Youth Europe?
As Senior Project Officer, my role is to support the team by overseeing our projects, making sure everything runs smoothly and that our goals are met. I also develop grant proposals to help bring new ideas and initiatives to life, contributing to the growth and impact of our work and making it more accessible for rural youth.
Where is one of your favourite places to travel in Europe?
For me, there is no place like home, so my – rather cliché – choice would be Greece. Whether it’s a quiet village tucked away in the mountains and forests of central Greece or a small Aegean island with just a handful of houses, those are the places where I feel most content.
What would you bring to an RYE international buffet?
I’d bring a big plate of homemade spanakopita, the Greek spinach pie. It’s simple yet full of flavour!
