Open Call for a Trainer and Facilitator

Rural Youth Europe is looking for an experienced trainer and facilitator to support the design and delivery of a Capacity-Building Seminar from 1-4 November in Bilbao, Spain.

About the Project

The Capacity-Building Seminar "Powering Change: Young Leaders for Energy Communities" will take place from 1–4 November 2026 in Bilbao, Spain, as part of the project "Powering Change: Empowering Rural Youth for Energy Communities."

The activity will bring together 25 rural youth representatives and young farmers from across Europe to strengthen their practical knowledge and skills for developing community-led energy initiatives in rural areas.

About the Task

We are looking for a trainer who will work closely with the RYE Secretariat to co-design and facilitate an engaging and participatory learning experience.

This is a short-term consultancy opportunity for a professional with expertise in energy communities and renewable energy, combined with experience in non-formal education, participatory facilitation, and working with young people.

The selected consultant will support the project by:

• Co-designing the seminar agenda and learning journey in collaboration with the RYE Secretariat;

• Developing interactive and participatory sessions based on non-formal education methodologies;

• Facilitating workshops and group sessions on topics related to energy communities, including community engagement, project development, and funding opportunities;

• Finalising the outputs and materials produced during the event;

• Providing support to participants in local follow-up activities (to be agreed with RYE Secretariat);

• Providing impact measurement and reporting of the above-mentioned activities.

The trainer will work in close cooperation with the RYE Secretariat throughout the preparation phase, the seminar itself, and the immediate follow-up period.

Who We're Looking For 

We are looking for someone who has:

• Demonstrated expertise in renewable energy, energy communities, rural development, and/or community engagement;

• Experience in designing and facilitating capacity-building activities using non-formal education methods;

• Strong facilitation skills and experience working with international groups of young people or youth organisations;

• Experience creating interactive workshops that encourage participation, reflection, and collaborative learning;

  
  

The ideal candidate combines thematic expertise with the ability to create inclusive, engaging learning environments where participants can confidently exchange ideas and develop practical skills.

Practical Information 

The assignment will include preparation before the seminar, facilitation during the event (1–4 November 2026 in Bilbao, Spain), and a limited amount of follow-up work afterwards.

The exact timeline (between September and December 2026) and expected workload will be agreed with the selected consultant.

The consultancy fee will be between €2,000 and €2,500, depending on the consultant's experience and the proposed scope of work. The selected person will need to provide an invoice to RYE.

Travel, accommodation, and meals related to the seminar will be covered separately by Rural Youth Europe in accordance with the project's travel arrangements.
