Our team is continuing to grow. We are delighted to welcome Greta D'Emilio to the RYE secretariat team! Find out more about her in her own words:

Ciao! My name is Greta, I’m 29 and I come from Rosà, a little town near Venice in the north of Italy. I just moved to Brussels to join RYE’s team as Project and Communications Officer. New job, new city, new opportunities! I’m really excited for this new chapter and to be part of an organisation that works on topics so close to me.

I’ve been involved in youth work since I was a teenager, first as a facilitator at a local level, then youth leader accompanying groups abroad and eventually as a project officer in international projects. My passion for youth work, non-formal education and international cooperation only grew with time and I believe on the impact they have on young people, having lived it in first person.

What is your role in Rural Youth Europe?

As Project and Communications Officer I support the team in drafting and implementing projects, planning and delivering workshops, training and activities for rural youth and youth workers. I also contribute to media outreach and communications, ensuring visibility and dissemination of our activities and opportunities for rural youth. I make sure to bring an innovative and creative approach into raising awareness on and engaging rural youth.

Where is one of your favourite places to travel in Europe?

One of my favourite places in Europe is Turkey. I travelled there for the first time in 2017, where I volunteered for one month, mainly working with local and immigrant kids and young people. I had the chance to learn about a new culture, experience the local traditions and travel around the country. I fell in love with the food, the history and the people and it’s what motivated me to work in this field.

What would you bring to an RYE international buffet?

It’s not easy to choose a favourite dish, but being from the Veneto region I would definitely bring tiramisu and spritz. Sweet and fresh, to be shared in great company, good for any occasion all year around.
