2009 Rally, Estonia - report
European Rally: Beware, Active Youth
1 - 8 August 2009
Jäneda, Estonia
The Rally has been a big challenge for Estonian 4H and for Estonian youth overall. Estonian 4H is 18 years old this year and it has been the biggest international event for us. For a lot of people Estonia has been something unknown, so we wanted to show what we are and where we are. Also as our age – 18 ‐ shows, it is about time to behave as an adult and take bigger tasks. And European Rally was one of those challenges.
It was a great pleasure to see so many European Countries present and different organisations gathered here all together. This is already an acceptable amount of people to change or approve something on youth work and spread the knowledge and experience all over the world. „Beware, active youth“ ‐ it is saying already what we need to do, but the way you do it is up to you.
Hopefully you got enough knowledge and energy from this year’s rally to be really active youth and hopefully you enjoyed yourself along the way!

Chairperson of the Rally 2009
Tere ja teretulemast Eestisse (“Hello and welcome to Estonia”), unfortunately I think this is the only Estonian I learned to say the entire week, as we had such an energetic, full and thoroughly enjoyable week! From the World Café to the International Buffet, canoeing, and learning about Youth Participation, there was something truly amazing for everyone.
This years Rally theme of “Beware Active Youth” really summed up the program and the participants! I’d like to thank & congratulate Estonian 4H and their prep team for a truly professional and memorable experience on behalf of Rural Youth Europe and all the participants. For an organisation th
at has just reached its 18th birthday to develop and deliver such a learning experience is quite an achievement, and could I encourage those of you who read this report to speak to your own organisations and encourage them to host a Rural Youth Europe Event.
Again thanks to Estonian 4H, the Prep team and especially Kadri, who has now joined the board, so hopefully we can make use of her talent in European‐wide projects. This was an event which I know all the participants will remember with fondness for the rest of their lives!
