Importance of farming - Latvian 4H Club
The projects’ aim was to motivate children and youth to focus on traditional agricultural activities in their local communities. The project consisted of vegetable growing competitions and tasks like growing the biggest or heaviest vegetables as well as a photo competition. The project received strong support from the government for its innovative approach and benefits to the community.
Environmental education Camp - Latvian 4H Club
Latvian 4H Club held an educational camp in the countryside with the theme of environmental education. The 5-day long camp was designed to entertain the target group of 10-18-year-olds and had clever themes for every day, for example “Mammoth day”. The programme including timber floating on Little Ludza lake, group workshops and other activities.
Weekend competition - Swiss Rural Youth
The aim for the event was to organise a fun competition for members of Swiss Rural Youth and local community. The local youth club built 10 “stations” with a different educational topic at each station. Each of the 80 participating teams completed tasks at the stations including mazes, puzzles and quizzes. Helping to organise the event was 250 volunteers, which underlines the size of the event. The hard work and fierce competition was awarded on Sunday, when everybody gathered for a big party to end the event.
Young Peoples’ Village - Wales Young Farmers Club
The project was the creation of a “young people's village” during the 4-day Royal Welsh Show. The village had it's own music festival and provided camping and caravanning facilities with hot and cold running water, showers, toilets and an electric hook-up centre. The aim was to offer YFC members from across the world a safe place to be entertained and to stay during the Royal Welsh Show.
Environment – get the bet started! - Rural Youth Upper Austria
The project was to develop a board game called “Environment – get the bet started!” which was related to Rural Youth Upper Austria’s annual motto of the year 2009 - “Biodiversity!”. The goal was to inform young people in a hands-on way about sustainability, ecological issues and biological diversity.
